So thank you so much to artist Jacqui Hilson who showed me a very nifty reverse applique technique which enabled me to create this individual work which, though rich in detail, is strong enough to be incorporated into a cushion and handled or cuddled.

I very much enjoyed creating this textile picture for Kay for her 91st birthday. 'Its called Hold on to Your Life' and features her first house, which she was very loathe to leave, as well as references to her children, husband and hobbies.   It also has a secret stuffing!

This the Elephant of Treasures, a follow on from Bella The Bluebird of Happiness. 

Originally intended to be a small ceramic piece, she morphed into a larger work which could be interactive so I could share the conversation with other people about what we treasure most, as individuals and as a society. 

I am still working on this, and want to make  textile hangings for her - only trouble is I can't sew, so that's a new thing to learn.
